Business and Economics Majors
Business Management Major
Students in this major often join the labor market soon after graduation and enter a variety of business careers; many later pursue MBA, master of finance, master of accountancy etc. They often pair this major with a minor in finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, or sports management, to develop expertise in one area of business.
Economics Major
This major requires social science courses beyond economics, as it emphasizes economics as a social discipline. It is suitable for students interested in public policy, public administration, working in the nonprofit sector, or having an international career.
Quantitative Economics Major
This major emphasizes quantitative skill, requires a few math courses, and prepares students well for PhD or master programs in economics, data science, public policy, and related fields. It is a STEM major (so international students with this major are eligible to apply for 2-year extension to their 1-year Optional Practical Training).
School of Business
The Department of Economics and Business contributes core courses to the Business School’s interdisciplinary business curriculum and collaborates closely with other departments/programs and the Center for Entrepreneurship to prepare students for careers in business and entrepreneurship.
