Resources & Opportunities

At Beloit College, you won’t just learn about how psychological knowledge is generated and applied, you will have numerous opportunities to put that learning into practice.

Research Opportunities at Beloit

  • Students in Research Methods and Statistics courses design and conduct observational, survey and experimental research.
  • Our capstone courses typically include a research project (varies depending on topic of the course).
  • Students can complete a “special project” (Beloit’s name for independent projects) with a professor to explore an area of interest in more detail.
  • Students with superior GPAs are invited to complete a senior thesis – a year-long research project that may result in graduating with honors.
  • Students may be invited to work with a faculty member on research during the academic year or the summer.

Many of our students present their work during our annual Spring Student Symposium or at the annual Midwest Psychological Association Conference, held each spring.

Community-Based Learning Opportunities

Through our Psychology Practicum course (PSYC 325) students have completed internships at:

  • Beloit Domestic Violence Center
  • Stateline Literacy Council
  • Stateline Mental Health Services
  • Local elementary and middle schools
