Nursing BSN with Edgewood College
Beloit College has a partnership with Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin, for 3+1-year dual-degree program that prepares students to become a registered nurse (RN).
Beloit College has established a new partnership with Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin, for a dual-degree bachelor of arts or science (BA/BS) and bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) program, preparing students to become a registered nurse (RN). The partnership is a 3+1-year dual-degree program.
Beloit College students will complete coursework for their bachelor of arts or science in three or four years, and then spend a year completing the bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) while continuing to live on Beloit’s campus. Edgewood faculty, recruited from the Stateline area, will deliver the BSN curriculum.
The one-year BSN begins shortly after graduation in May 2025.
Why now
Beloit College and Edgewood partnered to create this dual-degree program to address a significant statewide and national nursing shortage, particularly for nurses with bachelor’s degrees. This partnership aims to place RNs in the Stateline area, which is home to large hospital systems, specialty hospitals, outpatient clinics, rehabilitation centers, public and community health organizations, and long-term care facilities.
The health system in Beloit’s backyard — and the diverse populations it serves — will greatly benefit from the liberal arts education that Beloit and Edgewood provide. Edgewood aims to expand its reach beyond Dane County and into Rock County. The program is also a cost-effective opportunity for becoming a nurse for local high school students, contributing to the economic well-being of the entire community.
Getting involved
Current Beloit College students who meet GPA and prerequisite requirements may apply for admission to the program at any point in their Beloit career, including the fall semester before starting the BSN program. Students will receive personalized advising about their individual pathways into the BSN program from both Beloit’s School of Health Sciences and Edgewood advisors on campus, starting as early as the summer before they begin at Beloit.
Beloit College will hold informational and advising sessions for interested incoming students over the summer through New Student Orientation.
