Theatre and Dance

  • Each year the Theatre and Dance Department produces six mainstage productions. Students have the opportunity to act, dance, choreograph, design, stage manage, build, direct, or work backstage for our black box and thrust stages.
  • Dance in and/or choreograph for the December Dance Workshops, Chelonia Dance Concert, or any of the student produced dance concerts.
  • Study and dance with one of the two guest artists we bring to campus each year.
  • Participate in Drag Balls, or live with fellow dance lovers in DanceHaus.
  • Join BITE (Beloit Independent Theatre Experience), perform, direct, or design for the Asian Monologues or Student Directed One Acts.
  • Audition or choreograph for student produced dance concerts.
  • There are also plenty of off-campus activities such as conferences like ACDA, KCACTF, or USITT and field trips to see theatre and dance performances.

Art

Media Studies

  • Develop and broadcast your own programs at our on-campus radio and TV stations.
  • Record music at our very own Maple Tree Studio.
  • Or check out audio/video/VR equipment at our campus library and collaborate with friends on your own media productions.

Music

  • Our student-run a cappella group Bits & Pieces performs both on and off campus.
  • Music Club hosts informal gatherings for listening, jamming, and intimate concerts and also has a rehearsal space for student bands.
  • Students can attend concerts with off-campus bands or perform their own sets at C-Haus.

Creative Writing

Beloit has a long and rich tradition in creative writing and campus publications.

  • Develop your writing and editing skills at student-run publications like the Round Table.
  • Edit and produce the Beloit Fiction Journal, a national literary publication.
  • Study with a nationally acclaimed Mackey Chair.
  • Read your work on stage at one of several student readings held each year.
  • Meet working writers through the English Department’s visiting writers series.
