Beloit Area Career Preparation
City of Beloit Parks and Recreation: Facilities include dog parks, ice rinks, disc golf courses, and more. With numerous adult and youth sport leagues and a few annual signature events, this is a great way to get involved.
Stateline Family YMCA: With four locations in the stateline area, there are plenty of opportunities to find your place. Opportunities abound to do everything from becoming a personal trainer to refereeing a sport. The main Ironworks branch is just a quick walk from campus, over a pedestrian bridge on the scenic Rock River.
Nature at the Confluence: This group aims to strengthen people’s connection with nature through programs and activities that bring the great outdoors to families, schools, and neighbors. A great experience for those interested in outdoor education. Each summer, the organization also hosts one or more interns.
Stateline Boys & Girls Club: Clubs serve youth ages 6-18, providing them with enriching after-school and summer programs in areas that support future success, including health & life skills, education and career programs, and sports, fitness, and recreation programs.
Beloit Snappers: Our local minor league baseball team affiliated with the Miami Marlins. Students have the opportunity to learn about all aspects of a professional sports team, including sports announcing, marketing and promotion, ticket sales, and grounds maintenance.
Rockford IceHogs: One of our local, professional hockey teams and a Chicago Blackhawks affiliate. Students have the opportunity to learn about all aspects of a professional sports team. Including sports announcing, marketing and promotion, ticket sales, and hockey rink maintenance.
Janesville Jets: One of our local, professional hockey teams, they are a member of the North American Hockey League. Students have the opportunity to learn about all aspects of a professional sports team, including sports announcing, marketing and promotion, ticket sales, and hockey rink maintenance.
Become a sports official: Officiating teaches independent thinking and the ability to see the big picture — a skill that translates outside of officiating. If you love sports, you will have the best view of the game as an official. More importantly, officiating will teach you how to view the games in a whole new light – one that emphasizes fairness, integrity, decisiveness, and sound judgment.
Welty Environmental Center: Located in Beloit’s Big Hill Park, the Welty Environmental Center offers children and adults hands-on encounters with biological, physical, and chemical elements of nature. Further, its year-round programming challenges participants to relate concepts of the natural and social sciences and humanities to environmental, ecological, and related social concerns. Look to Welty for volunteer and paid internship opportunities.

Beloit College’s Global Experience Office facilitates semester-long study in the U.S. and abroad as part of students’ Beloit education. Financial aid applies and credits earned off-campus count toward Beloit College degrees. Expand your horizons by living and studying off-campus. Take courses to enrich your Beloit campus studies.
