At the Purple Alert level, teaching and learning is taking place in-person on campus.
- Most faculty are teaching on campus. Most staff have returned to campus.
- Students may gather while continuing to remain safe and follow protective practices.
- Indoor activities are permitted, but outdoor activities continue to be preferred.
Our current alert level is Green.
Hybrid operations, teaching and learning; students and some faculty and staff back on campus; limits on in-person activities
At the Green Alert level, teaching and learning is taking place in a hybrid format, with classes in a combination of in-person and online learning.
- Some faculty are teaching remotely while others are on campus.
- Students may gather, but only in small numbers and while socially distancing and wearing masks.
- Outdoor activities are preferred to indoor activities.
Our current alert level is Yellow.
Hybrid operations, teaching and learning; students and some faculty and staff back on campus; limits on in-person activities
At the Yellow Alert level, individual or small clusters of Covid cases have been identified, and are being managed without taxing resources.
- Teaching and learning continue to take place in a hybrid format, with classes in a combination of in-person and online learning.
- Some faculty are teaching remotely while others are on campus.
- Students may gather, but only in small numbers and while socially distancing and wearing masks.
- Outdoor activities are preferred to indoor activities.
Our current alert level is Orange.
On-line teaching and learning; remote work; most faculty and staff work remotely, while essential services continue on campus
At the Orange Alert level, Covid community spread is taking place and campus operations must change to contain the spread.
- All teaching and learning move online.
- Most faculty and staff are working remotely.
- Student gatherings are highly restricted and discouraged.
Our current alert level is Red.
Remote operations, teaching and learning; essential services continue on campus
At the Red Alert level, the College has reached its capacity to operate under Covid spread.
- All teaching and learning take place online.
- Most faculty, staff and students are not present on campus.
Beloit’s coronavirus response is led by a campus task force, charged with monitoring a variety of factors and making recommendations about safety measures. The criteria we use to make decisions include the following:

- New positive cases per week
- Number of healthy community members in quarantine
- Number of community members in isolation
- Availability of COVID testing
- Teaching and learning capacity
- Ability to provide Essential Services
- Campus Compliance with Protective Practices
In the region:
- 7-Day average of new cases in Rock & Winnebago Counties
- Total COVID Hospitalizations in Rock County
- Local, State and Federal Mandates
