Pomp and revelry welcome new students (again)
Beloit held a traditional, in-person fall Convocation, but kept the twist of holding the event outdoors, which started during the pandemic.
Beloit returned to some of its cherished traditions this fall, including welcoming new students on the first day of classes with an in-person, outdoor Convocation, followed by a celebratory march down College Street, and a picnic in Chapin Quad.
First-year students this fall are members of the class of 2026. New students numbered 253 at press time, with domestic students hailing from 32 states. International students make up nearly a fifth of the class — a return to numbers not seen since the beginning of the pandemic. International students come from 19 countries, including Chile, Lithuania, Nepal, South Africa, and Uzbekistan. About a third identify as first-generation college students, and more than a third are student-athletes.
