Education at Beloit: a top choice for students, a strong partner for local schools

This fall, Beloit College’s Department of Education and Youth Studies (EDYS) is proud to place 10 student teachers into classrooms across the Beloit School District (SDB) and the Turner School District, continuing the College’s long-standing partnership with local school districts.

These placements provide future educators with invaluable, hands-on experience while also strengthening ties between Beloit College and the local community. Notably, some of the cooperating teachers from local schools are EDYS alumni, which highlights the full cycle in action.

Beloit College’s Education and Youth Studies program has built a strong track record of preparing students to thrive in teaching and education-related fields. Over the course of the 2024–25 academic year, Beloit College supported 20 student teachers, all of whom secured teaching positions or other jobs in education across Wisconsin, Illinois, Colorado, and Hawaii. Notably, eight of those graduates began their first full-time teaching jobs with Beloit or Turner school districts.

Interest in education as a career continues to grow among Beloit College students. For the incoming Class of 2029, Education is one of the top two most popular intended majors, a clear reflection of the strong and steady demand for teachers nationwide. With ongoing teacher shortages at both state and national levels, our graduates continue to enjoy 100% placement upon graduation.
