Assistant Professor of Economics and Business

Description / Biography

I teach a broad range of courses in the Economics and Business Department, including Intro to Business, Corporate Finance, Applied Financial Modeling, Sustainable Finance, Machine Learning for Business and Economics, and Health Economics. I enjoy helping students discover how economic and financial theories and models directly influence their everyday lives. I also value the opportunity to mentor students as they explore the many career paths available through the School of Business.

My research focuses primarily on healthcare, labor markets, finance, and economic development. My most recent study explores the competitiveness of the U.S. health insurance market by analyzing the ownership structure of health insurance companies. It finds that firms with common ownership by several large institutional investors tend to charge higher premiums for their plans.
