October 23-29 Welcome back from breakHello Beloiters! We hope you enjoyed your midterm break and are happy to be back at Beloit. It is time again for interesting classes, fun activities, and plenty of time with friends. Joel Mokyr, this year’s Upton Scholar, will be on campus this week as part of the Upton Forum. Mokyr specializes in economic history and the economics of technological change and population change, contributing to this year’s theme of “Culture, Institutions and the Wealth and Well-Being of Nations.” There are a number of events later this week, including panel discussions, a luncheon, and a lecture by Mokyr this Friday.
