Hello Beloiters! We hope you enjoyed your midterm break and are happy to be back at Beloit. It is time again for interesting classes, fun activities, and plenty of time with friends.

Joel Mokyr, this year’s Upton Scholar, will be on campus this week as part of the Upton Forum. Mokyr specializes in economic history and the economics of technological change and population change, contributing to this year’s theme of “Culture, Institutions and the Wealth and Well-Being of Nations.” There are a number of events later this week, including panel discussions, a luncheon, and a lecture by Mokyr this Friday. Make a plan to attend.

Cleaning up local waterways

Beloit College's chapter of Sigma Chi joined volunteers for a waterway cleanup.

Beloit College’s chapter of Sigma Chi joined volunteers from the City of Beloit and Protect Wisconsin Waterways in their annual waterway cleanup. Adrian Camacho’25 reports that the group had a great time and is even thinking about organizing their own clean-up event to encourage students to get off campus and be active in the community. 

Career advice for many paths
