Pre-order chocolate-covered strawberries by the end of today. Otherwise, cookies and brownies will be available to purchase from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Powerhouse. Save the date for Giving Day Giving Day ’24 is March 6, and the Giving Day team has a goal of 1,100 donors participating with a gift of any amount. Sociology Professor Charles Westerberg has offered some of his iconic bow ties to be given to some lucky donors. Sports recap Beloit College track and field competed in the Roger Hayes Invite at Monmouth College over the weekend. Senior Candis Damste’24 was named Midwest Conference Women’s Indoor Track Performer of the Week for her first-place finish in the 200 M and fourth in the 60 M the week before. Freshman sprinter Josh Yearby’27 broke the 60 M record for the third week in a row with a blazing time of 6.92 seconds. Buccaneer basketball swept the week with two wins each. The men’s team defeated Maratha Baptist, 80-65, and Knox College, 78-62. The women’s team defeated Mount Mary, 88-56, and upset Knox College for a second time this season, 84-71. The week was highlighted by senior guard Elizabeth Kalk’24 becoming the 16th member of the prestigious 1,000-point club. Up next for the Bucs is a home doubleheader against Grinnell College on Wednesday, at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Beloit swim and dive teams head to Grinnell College for the Midwest Conference Championships, which will be held Friday through Sunday. |
