April 29 - May 5 Record-setting home runHello Beloiters! It’s a big week for Beloiters. In the next few days, we will make some announcements about key partnerships in the region to further your opportunities. Stay tuned. Renovations beginning to improve food infrastructureAs you look to finish the semester strong, we want to remind you of some exciting building and dining projects that will start in the next few days, all designed to improve your quality of life here on campus. At the top of the list is improving our food infrastructure, giving Bon Appetit the tools they need to produce a consistently high-quality food and meal plan. By the time you return in the fall, DKs in Pearsons will offer breakfast and lunch with a combination of fresh and grab-and-go options. To be ready for next year some of the work will begin immediately. Students, faculty, and staff will still have access to the Smart Mart machines. There will still be a limited number of tables and chairs available primarily in the front of the room. The space under the overhang will be used for equipment being moved in and out of the kitchen space in DK’s. The bulk of the space will still be available for grabbing snacks and drinks and studying, including being a late-night study hub for finals. We’re keeping the disruption down to the minimum. Next, we are expanding Hamiltons at the Powerhouse, which will serve as the college’s new all-you-care-to-eat café beginning in January 2025. In the interim, Commons will continue to serve our community until the expanded service at The Powerhouse is completed. And on the residence hall side, we are beginning the complete renovation of Whitney Hall. Construction begins as soon as students move home so that the work will be complete in time for fall semester. We’re including new bathrooms, tile floors, lighting, ceiling tile, heating and cooling systems, floors, kitchens, and study rooms. We continue to plan for future residence hall renovations. Seniors: tell us your plansThe Alumni Office is asking all seniors to complete the Class of 2024 Alumni Association Survey. The information you provide helps us keep you connected with opportunities, identify affinity reunions, and to alert you to networking events in your new area. You are joining a network of over 18,000 alumni; welcome to the family! Prepare for the Fulbright ProgramStudents are encouraged to apply to the US Fulbright 2025-2026 Fellowship Competition. In partnership with more than 140 countries worldwide, the program offers opportunities in all academic disciplines to graduating college seniors, graduate students, and young professionals from all backgrounds. Grants start in fall of 2025, but applications are due in fall of 2024. The program is highly competitive, and applications will take time, so best to start now. Two kinds of awards are available:
