Hello Beloiters! We are coming up to the end of another academic year and we congratulate you for finishing strong. We hope you have a great summer!

And for our soon-to-be grads: thank you for making Beloit College your home for the past four years. Every one of you has imprinted your personality, intellect, passion, and spirit here: that’s why Beloit is such a special place. You will always be a Beloiter, and we will always celebrate you. Congratulations!

Senior Week events

Ceremony details

Line-up begins promptly at 10:30 a.m. between the Godfrey building and WAC (east side). The graduates will form lines into a corridor that faculty and staff will file through. When bells chime at 11:00 am, faculty marshals will lead the procession into the ceremony grounds.

Following the ceremony, the faculty marshals will lead the faculty and staff off the ceremony grounds toward Eaton Chapel. The faculty and staff will create a corridor through which the graduates will pass as they leave the ceremony grounds.

We will make every reasonable effort to hold the ceremony outdoors and may delay the start of the ceremony if inclement weather is predicted to pass. In the event of a weather delay, faculty, and staff will be notified via email by 8:30 a.m. regarding any changes.

Commencement speakers are social justice activists

Tennessee State Rep. Justin J. Pearson and Oceana R. Gilliam will address graduates on Sunday. Gilliam, a Beloit College Trustee since 2021, is also engaged to Pearson and serves as his Chief of Staff. She was a leading force behind Pearson’s two primary and general election victories.

Pearson was expelled and then reinstated after protesting gun violence on the Tennessee House floor. Gilliam graduated from Beloit in 2017 and earned a master’s in public policy from UCLA. She also completed graduate-level coursework as a junior at Princeton’s school of public affairs.

Interested in a nursing degree?

Beloit College has established a new partnership with Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin, for a dual-degree bachelor of arts or science (BA/BS) and bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) program, preparing students to become a registered nurse (RN). The partnership is a 3+1-year dual-degree program.

The one-year BSN portion begins shortly after May 2025 graduation. Applications for the program are due by the end of the fall 2024 semester. Learn more about the dual-degree nursing program.

Sports recap

  • Women’s lacrosse’s historic season came to an end with a loss in the conference tournament championship game. After an overtime win in the semifinals, the Bucs took on Aurora University, but fell short, 20-7. The Bucs finished third in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, with a record of 9-7 and 4-2 in conference and their second conference tournament berth in program history.
  • Track and field competed at the Battle in the Bluffs on Friday. The men’s team placed third of seven, while the women’s placed fourth. They will head to the Midwest Conference Championship meet in Jacksonville, Illinois, on Friday and Saturday.
  • Baseball clinched the third seed in the Midwest Conference Tournament and heads to Lawrence University Friday and Saturday. The team ended the regular season with a 21-15 record, 14-10 in conference.
  • Softball ended their season by winning three of their last four, including a series split against Monmouth College on senior day. They ended the year 11-27, 5-11 in conference.

Finding family from abroad to Beloit

Jacopo Tamburini’27, Aina Mallorqui’26, and Candis Damste’24 all ventured to Beloit from abroad to continue their athletic and academic careers. The three have thrived athletically and also have enjoyed college life in many different ways.

When Quisi Rodriguez-Oregel’21 was involved in a nearly fatal accident, multiple alumni stepped up to help her and her family, creating lifelong bonds in the process.

Seniors: tell us your plans

The Alumni Office is asking all seniors to complete the Class of 2024 Alumni Association Survey. The information you provide helps us keep you connected with opportunities, identify affinity reunions, and to alert you to networking events in your new area. 

End of semester shuttles

Shuttles to Fasmart will be available May 7 and 8. Please sign-up for a time if you need a shuttle. Plan to meet the shuttle driver at the Wall.

Sports Center Summer Hours

The Sports Center will maintain normal hours through May 10th and then be closed May 11-19. Summer hours will begin on May 20th: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Monday - Friday. The Sports Center will be closed on June 19 and July 4.
