Tomorrow is the annual Beloit & Beyond Conference! Support your friends and attend their interesting presentations on internships, study away experiences, and research. Check out the full program to plan your day.

Get started with the Local to Global Career Fair from 5-7 p.m. this evening in the Science Center atrium. Bring a friend and explore a range of job opportunities from employers like Cleo, Kerry, Beloit Health Systems, the Peace Corps, and Nature at the Confluence.

In-between symposium sessions tomorrow, don’t forget to stop by the launch party for the new School of Global & Public Service (GPS), also in the Science Center atrium, at 11:45. There will be pizza, cake, and lots of important information about the new school.

Vote if you haven’t already

Tomorrow is also Election Day. If you are eligible and haven’t voted already, walk over to First Congregational Church (801 Bushnell St.) in between the festivities from 7 a.m. - 8 p.m. You can vote using your student ID, as long as it matches your legal name.

Sports recap

  • Women’s soccer secured the fourth seed in the Midwest Conference Tournament with a 1-0 win at Illinois College this past Saturday. The 85 th minute goal by Kaitlyn Hudetz’25 punched their ticket to the conference for the fourth straight season, where they will face the host and number one seeded Lake Forest College.

  • Men’s and women’s swimming and diving competed against Ripon College this weekend. Both teams took home the victory, the men winning 72-65 and the women 125-97. Senior diver Helena Harrison’25 had a record-breaking weekend for the second week in a row, breaking the 1 M dive record for six dives, 226.4, and 11 dives, 399.

  • Women’s volleyball picked up another win against Maranatha Baptist University on Tuesday, 3-0. Middle blocker Kierra Rayne Hoover’27 lead the team with eight kills. The team will conclude their season at home against Illinois College on Saturday at 10 a.m.

  • Men’s and women’s cross country competed in the Midwest Conference Championships over the weekend. The women’s team placed eighth and the men’s placed ninth.

  • Men’s soccer concluded their season with a road game at Illinois College over the weekend. The team lost the game 4-1.

  • Football hosted their Senior Day and final home game of the season over the weekend, where they honored their 24 graduating seniors. The team faced off against Lake Forest College, who defeated the Bucs 62-17.

Measuring the impact of a medical education

Kitana Gulotta'25 is a Impact Beloit Community Fellow at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford.

Beloit native Kitana Gulotta’25 is an intern at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford (UICOMR). Her project focuses on surveying UICOMR alumni to assess the impact of global health programs on their medical careers.

Simulating elections in class

Klara Fredrickssen is teaching a class on U.S. elections, just as the general election is wrapping up.

Assistant Professor of Political Science Klara Fredriksson is teaching two American politics classes this semester, with one focused on the incoming congressional and presidential elections. She discusses the class’s campaign simulation project and what it’s been like teaching at a small liberal arts college.

A Summer at the Seaport

This past summer, MukhammadAli Shavkatov’26 spent time interning at the Baku International Sea Trade Port in Azerbaijan. He conducted in depth analysis of the Trans-Caspian route, as well as the Port of Baku, with the goal being to optimize efficiency.

Thanksgiving Shuttles

There is shuttle service to the Van Galder bus station during fall break. Drop off will be November 27. Pick up will be December 1st. Please sign up for a time if you need transportation to the bus stop.
