Hello Beloiters!
Sports recap is back! Every week you’ll see which sports played, which athletes stood out, and how our Buccaneers fared in games at home and away. Before we sprint towards the most recent updates from stadiums, fields, pools, and gyms, let’s stretch our legs with a Beloit Athletics recap.
- Beloit College sponsors 21 intercollegiate varsity teams, with competitions in the fall, winter, and spring.
- Approximately 30% of the student population is involved in intercollegiate athletics on our campus.
- At Beloit, many student-athletes compete in two or even three sports throughout the year.
- The Buccaneers compete in the Sports Center complex which is home to Flood Arena, the Powerhouse that holds Nicholls Natatorium, and the Strong Stadium Complex, which is home to Strong Stadium, The Ballpark at Strong Stadium, the Strong Complex Softball Field, and the Strong Complex Soccer Field.
- Beloit College’s Hall of Honor is one of the oldest in the state of Wisconsin. The Hall of Honor has recognized the greatest athletes, coaches, administrators and trailblazers in Buccaneer history since the Hall’s inception in 1963.
You’ve had a chance to settle into routines and connect with people who support you. Attending events is a great way to build our wider campus community. The campus calendar is up-to-date with all the chances to cheer on our Buccaneers.

Men’s Soccer had back-to-back shutout wins against Lawrence University and Knox College, keeping them undefeated in Midwest Conference play. Eziah Hernandez ’29 scored four goals in the two matches, including a hat trick against Lawrence. Goalkeeper David Staats ’28 was a force to be reckoned with, recording 19 saves and two clean sheets in both games.

Women’s Soccer played one game this week against Knox College which resulted in an exciting 2-1 win. Sarah Connors ’29 scored both goals, with Annie Lloyd ’29 and Meara Plum ’29 assisting her. Goalkeeper Sophia Dietz ’29 also recorded seven saves to help secure the victory.

Football hosted Cornell College in a close 26-19 loss. The game saw Cornell score early from a 40-yard interception converted to a touchdown in the first quarter. On offense, quarterback Jared Torres ’27 threw for two touchdowns and two interceptions. The defense played strongly, recording an interception, two fumble recoveries, and a blocked extra point attempt.

Volleyball played back-to-back games against Lake Forest College and Ripon College. The Bucs took the first two sets against Lake Forest, with Naomi Murphy ’27 and Maddisyn Adams ’29 making crucial offensive plays. After a close 23-25 loss in the third set, Beloit was unable to regain their lead and lost 2-3. Kierra Rayne Hoover ’27 led the offense with six kills. Selin Tufte ’28 also contributed five kills and three digs against Ripon, but Beloit could ultimately not break through and lost in three sets.

Cross-country (men’s and women’s) competed in the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational on Saturday, placing 10th out of 12 teams. Sophomore Dylan Malmgren ’28 secured a 25th-place finish with a time of 27:51.5, and senior Simone De Montigny ’26 finished in 18th place with a time of 24:56.1.
