Are you a visual artist searching for your next medium? Accessible Arts and Crafts Night is a relaxing environment to explore art stations. All supplies provided. (Fri., Nov. 21)

Are you a writer seeking your next story? “Putting the Story in History” will discuss Wayne Turmel’s creative process for turning historical facts into compelling fiction. The Count of the Sahara, one of Turmel’s four published works, is inspired by Beloit College’s 1925 Franco-American expedition to Algeria. Register to receive an event link and reminder email. (Thu., Nov 20) Visit the current exhibition, “Sahara of Mysteries,” at the Logan Museum of Anthropology.

Are you a performer in need of an audience? International Poetry Night is an evening of poetry readings in multiple languages that celebrates Beloit College’s multicultural, multilingual, and multinational community. Submit poems to Olga Ogurtsova in advance to be read at the event. (Mon., Nov 17)

Science of climate change

Steve Vavrus, the Wisconsin State Climatologist will deliver the Ivan Stone Lecture, open to the public, in the Weissberg Auditorium on Tue., Nov. 18. Learn about the science of climate change from an engaging expert with longstanding ties to Beloit and Beloit College.


Sports Recap

Football fought hard in their last game of the season against Illinois College with standout performances from many players. Jonathan Williamson ’28 had a 65 yard touchdown and Ayouba Sumoaro ’27 racked up nine total tackles. Football also celebrated senior day, where they honored seven graduating seniors and their contributions to the team. The game ended in a 38-7 loss

Men’s Hockey took the ice three times. They fell to Augsburg University in the home opener, losing 4-2. with goals from Valerii Kneib ’27 and Nathan Hinze ’29. They turned it around in the next game against Hiram College which featured standout performances from goaltender Jude Ayling ’28. He made 13 saves in his first start and they won 6-1. Men’s Hockey tied against Hiram College 3-3, with Ben Stewart ’27, Hunter Nelson ’28, and Kneib scoring for the Bucs.

Women’s Hockey started the week against UW-Stevens Point. Goaltender Madison Bliss ’28 saved 49 of 52 shots in the tough 3-0 loss. Their next two games were a test against the staggering offense of UW-Eau Claire. The determined Buccaneer goaltending of Janelle Quast ’29 and Bliss for 29 saves on 38 shots. Offense ultimately could not convert shots on goal. Both games ended in losses, 9-0 and.

Men’s Basketball was on the road last week, starting at Carroll University. The game featured strong performances from Semaj Roy ’25, Anthony Carter ’27 and Dae’Quan Davis ’26 who scored 38 total points in the close 63-61 loss. The Bucs took home the win against Maranatha Baptist University, outscoring the Sabercats 86-50. Miles Anderson ’29 and Owen Geiger ’29 ran an efficient offense, including three 3-pointers.

Women’s Basketball competed on the road and at home. Amaya Bridgewater ’29 scored a career-high ten points and Kaitlin Davis ’27 landed multiple defensive rebounds against Benedictine University. Kaelie Moreno ’27 contributed an impressive 16 points and ten rebounds versus Carroll University. The Bucs lost 64-43 and 72-25 respectively. Women’s Basketball wrapped up the week by winning their home opener 62-50 against Illinois Tech in a game that featured strong defensive performances from Davis and Bridgewater.

Men’s and Women’s Cross Country wrapped up their season at the 2025 NCAA North Region Championships. Dylan Malmgren ’28 led the men with an 8k time of 27:41.7, finishing in 125th place. Simone De Montigny ’26 was the lead finisher for the women in the 6k with a time of 24:36.5, placing 106th place. In the final standings, the men’s team finished 27th and the women 29th.

Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving hosted Milwaukee School of Engineering and North Central College. Lylah Murrah ’27 put in a standout performance for the women, placing third in 100 Yard Fly and second in the 200 Yard Free. On the men’s side, Jeremy Mueller ’27 placed first in the 200 and 100 Yard Free. The team celebrated Lucy Monnig ’26 and Amelia Pullen ’26 for their work with the team as a part of senior day.
