Hello Beloiters!

The Advising Period begins this week! From March 25 to April 3, every student meets with their advisor(s) to make sure they are taking the classes they need to graduate on time AND to connect about summer opportunities, challenges, and more. Prepare for that conversation — or extend it — with these helpful group mentoring experiences happening this week.

Find your interests

  • Monday, March 23: Certificate of Completion and Blocks Information Session 12:30-1:30 p.m. in Moore Lounge, Pearsons Hall. Learn about Certificates of Completion and Blocks and how to choose classes towards the requirements. Pizza and refreshments served.
  • Wednesday, March 25: Tea and Scones Lunch 12:30-1:15 p.m. in WAC. Join the English Department and friends to discover upcoming events, classes, and opportunities. All are welcome. Refreshments provided.
  • Wednesday, March 25: Study Abroad Application Writing Workshop 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the Global Experience Office. Begin your spring 2027 study abroad application. The submission deadline is May 1!
  • Thursday, March 26: “How to Choose your Major” panel 7-8 p.m. in Richardson Auditorium. Get your questions answered by student panelists from a variety of fields, and learn how they selected their majors and minors.
  • Friday, March 27: Info session on econ/business majors, minors, and careers 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the Kuechle Business Hub. Explore majors, minors, and career options in the School of Business. Lunch provided.

Build your skills

  • Thursday, March 26: Disagree with your Professor 12-1 p.m. at Hamiltons. Debate your professor on a fun topic, earn prizes, and practice the skill of civil dialogue. 10-minute sessions available on a variety of topics.
  • Thursday, March 26: Museum Skill-Building Workshop - Interviewing for Museum Jobs and Internships 4-5:30 p.m. in the Godfrey Anthropology Building. Gain practical, transferable skills to use across the museum field and beyond, with Logan Museum Curator Nikita Werner. Skills include techniques, to-do lists, and a better understanding of the entire interview process. Snacks provided.

This week find support across campus to get your questions answered — AMP and academic advisors, work supervisors, coaches, librarians, Dean of Students staff, School directors, international student advisors, residence hall staff, your classmates, and more — because everyone wants you to succeed!

Sports Recap

Men’s Lacrosse faced tough battles at home and away. Ryder Story ’27 proved to be instrumental in the two games with three goals. Additional goals were scored by John Imbriale ’28, George Haigley ’27, and Samuel Van Der Kolk ’26. Cristian Lewis ’29 was instrumental in possession with seven ground balls in two games.

Women’s Lacrosse played UW-Stevens Point over the weekend, which saw Willow Mashkuri ’28 score her third goal of the season for the Bucs. Goalkeeper Kim Pilon ’28 recorded 10 saves on the day, with help from Natasha Ludwig ’29 and Kiera Fairington ’28, each securing two ground balls.

Baseball opened their season at ABC Supply Stadium. Jacopo Tamburini ’27 led the team with two hits on four at-bats. Parker Krcmar ’27 had one hit on five at-bats. On the mound, reliever Collin Wright ’27 struck out four batters in just four innings pitched.

Softball secured a road win at Rockford University. Reliever Avary Briggs ’28 pitched five shutout innings with just four hits. Allison Olson ’27 had the most RBIs of the day with two, and G Calderon ’26 ultimately sealed the win by scoring a run after an error from Rockford.

Back where it all began: the Greg C. Hanrahan ’86 story

When Greg C. Hanrahan ’86 arrived at Beloit College in 1982, he didn’t plan on building a 37-year career in professional sports working for the Bulls organization, including being part of six NBA championships and the Chicago Blackhawks. In fact, he was initially drawn to econ management. But a single class changed everything.

Authentic engagement: Practitioner-in-Residence Richard Rose ’88

Richard Rose and students

With over two decades of experience in television, stage, and film, Richard Rose brings a perspective to the Beloit College curriculum that students wouldn’t find otherwise. Rose’s current residency in the School of Media Arts is in marketing. Residencies at Beloit College offer students the unique opportunity to connect with experts, creating relationships that can lead to internships and project collaborations — and, in Rose’s case, friendship.
