Major Advisors
Making the most of majors and minors, and beyond.
When you declare a major, a faculty member from that academic department becomes your advisor and mentor. If you have a second major or minors, you will also have a faculty member from those departments as additional academic advisors and mentors.
These advisors/mentors connect students with appropriate opportunities such as special projects, teaching assistantships, scholarships, awards, or participation in faculty research. They often become close mentors for advisees, particularly as they guide them for graduate school or professional careers after finishing at Beloit.
Students are frequently in class with their advisor, see their advisor at college functions and activities, as well as meet individually several times during the year — close and supportive mentoring relationships are a key aspect of your experience as a student at Beloit.
