The Student Success, Equity and Community office manages several grant-funded programs that speak directly to the mission of the office and of the college. 

Student Excellence in Leadership (SEL)

Funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Student Support Services TRIO Program,  the Student Excellence and Leadership (SEL) Program at Beloit College is an asset-based program focused on developing student academic, social, and personal excellence within a liberal arts setting.

McNair Scholars Program

Funded by the US Department of Education TRIO funded programs, the Ronald E. McNair Post-baccalaureate Achievement Program recognizes that the diversity of researchers is an integral component of scholastic excellence. It seeks to produce a new generation of scholars and researchers that will more accurately reflect the growing diversity in intellectual perspectives, life experiences, and cultures represented in academia. Beloit College is one of the few private liberal arts institutions with this program. At Beloit, it is particularly significant because it serves a critical group of talented students who are groomed to become scholars and leaders.

Upward Bound

Upward Bound assists students through academic advising, tutoring, admissions and financial aid activities, college visits, cultural and career activities, and mentoring programs.

Help Yourself

The Beloit College Help Yourself Programs are funded by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and Beloit College. We are a community outreach initiative for low-income, minority, marginalized and under-represented youth in the Greater Beloit area. The Help Yourself Programs (HYP) are comprised of a set of unique, comprehensive academic and cultural enrichment programs and educational support services to supplement the curriculum in public and private schools.

Wisconsin Alliance for Minority Participation (WiscAMP)

The WiscAMP program offers peer mentoring and other activities to enable the success of first-year students who are enrolled in a science or math course and interested in pursuing a STEM degree. Students meet with a peer mentor, attend cohort meetings, and have access to a faculty liaison in every science/math department. The goal is to make sure each student has what they need to be successful in any science or math course. Students also learn about how to pursue STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) degrees and opportunities for employment after graduation. Another benefit of participation is priority in registering for a science/math course.
