Checkout
Students are expected to meet with their Resident Assistant (RA) to walk through your room and note any damages. Each room will be reviewed for damages and your room condition form will be signed by you and your RA. RAs will have floor meetings to discuss the check out procedures. This checkout process is if you are not returning for whatever reason during the academic year. Everyone will be checked out in May once the academic year is over.
Leaving for Winter Break
When you leave for winter break, and are coming back in the spring, please remember to look at the form posted on your door telling you the procedures for what to do with your room, i.e. keep the heat on at least *70, unplug appliances, close windows, etc. The Residence Life staff does go through each room after closing to ensure all procedures are followed and will document any violations. In addition, Security will go through all rooms as well for the same purpose.
Shuttles
Shuttle services are offered to students between Beloit College and the nearby Van Galder Bus Stop in South Beloit, Illinois. Students often use this bus route to travel to and from O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois.
The shuttles depart and arrive on campus at the corner of College Street and Clary Street by The Wall. Please refer to the Academic Calendar for specific dates.
In addition, there is a WalMart shuttle that runs every Sunday and Wednesday in the evenings from 6:00p.m.-9:00p.m., just meet at the wall in front of Whitney and Blaisdell.
If you would like more information please contact Residence Life at reslife@beloit.edu.
Storage
Campus storage
The use of limited campus storage is strictly managed and monitored and is only in the newly renovated Whitney Hall.
- Campus storage is only available to:
- International students
- Students going abroad for a semester or longer
- Students who live more than 1,000 miles away from the College
- Space is claimed on a first come, first serve basis.
- Space is limited, so each student may store only five boxes in total.
- Students must sign a waiver/liability form acknowledging that the College is not responsible for any lost, damaged or stolen items.
- When returning to campus, students must claim all items placed in storage during designated storage hours. Anything left behind will be donated to a local charity.
Local storage
For students unable to take their belongings home or use campus storage, consider making use of a off-campus storage facility. Some possibilities are given here, but students are encouraged to research all options and find the best for their needs.
