Beloit College’s
Summer Academy
High schoolers: Do you want to get a taste of what college is like and earn credit, all while having loads of fun?
Spend two weeks with us (in-person on our beautiful campus!) delving into the ideas, problem solving and methods central to college at our Summer Academy.
Dates: June 16th - June 29th, 2024
This summer’s course theme, “Would I Lie to You? Fakes, Forgeries, Fantasies,” will energize your critical thinking skills and spur your curiosity.
How do we know what is true and what is not? What is real and authentic, and what is fake or fraudulent? How can you use the skills you refine in college - from history to chemistry to neuroscience - to discern the authenticity of something, from a news article to forensic evidence?
You will get to know a host of professors and students who will introduce you to a broad range of ways that academics can approach common problems. You will explore our city and region, using the tools you gain from fascinating lectures and workshops. And you will live on our beautiful campus on the Rock River, getting a taste of one of the country’s leading residential liberal arts colleges.
Participants earn 1 hour of transferable college credit for this two-week adventure and complete a project they can take away and share with others.
