Student Employment
Working on campus provides students with a valuable extension to the educational experience at Beloit while earning money to help meet expenses. We have provided information for students and supervisors with the steps to secure a student’s job on campus.
Process for Student Employment
1. Create a Job Description
- Create a job description for new positions utilizing the job description template.
- A new job description does not need to be created for the same job every semester. Supervisors should review current job descripitions for students and update as needed.
- The completed job description can be submitted to Alisa Bue in the Human Resources Office.
2. Posting the Student Position
- Faculty and staff are encouraged to submit their open positions so students can learn about them and apply.
3. Hiring Students
- Supervisors will submit a student hire to payroll through the portal.
- Students will need to complete any necessary payroll paperwork if not previously employed on campus. Please direct students to the Human Resource office.
- Upon completion of all required paperwork the student can begin working.
- Students can work no more than 20 hours total hours a week for all positions worked.
- For any changes in student employees once the student has been hired, please contact DeeAnne Freeman in payroll.

2. Once you are hired for a position you will need to complete the required payroll forms.
Student Employees
- Student employess must complete payroll forms if not previously submitted.
- Students can complete these forms in the human resources office, located in Pearsons Hall on the 3rd Floor. Documents needed to complete these forms are the following: U.S. Passport or Driver’s License, Social Security Card, and Birth Certificate. Photocopies, scanned copies, and expired documents will not be accepted.
