Anthropology is the study of humanity

Asking questions…

Why did some societies shift to a grain based diet? What happens when a government prevents an endangered language from being spoken in public? How do long-term disasters affect human health?

An anthropology degree from Beloit trains students to think critically and embrace the connections between human history, culture, and biology.

And finding solutions.

The extensive anthropology curriculum integrates perspectives from the social sciences, humanities, and natural sciences.

As part of earning a degree in anthropology at Beloit, students have unique opportunities to work with experienced faculty to get their hands dirty in labs, fieldwork and community service. Anthropology grads use that understanding to tackle social problems, empower communities, and confront challenges to our environment.

Professor of Anthropology Shannon Fie demonstrates to a class proper archaeological techniques on the Beloit College campus.
