Beloit College – University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Accelerated Master of Science in Athletic Training partnership
Beloit College has partnered with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to provide an opportunity for Beloit College students to earn an accelerated Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) degree.
Students in this program graduate with a BA or BS from Beloit College and MSAT from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in five years.
A liberal-arts foundation at Beloit
Experience small class sizes and a student-centric active-learning environment at Beloit College while completing the prerequisites for admission to the athletic training program. Students can gain hands-on experience during their time at Beloit by working as a Student Assistant with our Athletic Training team.
Students pursue a major in Health Sciences in as few as six semesters at Beloit College while still having plenty of opportunities to take non-major electives, and may even choose to minor in another area of interest. Students then apply for and matriculate into the two year MSAT program at UW-Milwaukee, with guaranteed admission as long as the requirements (below) are met.
Accelerated athletic training education at UW-Milwaukee
Students gain the experience they need to serve as a healthcare professional who works as part of a healthcare team. They learn to provide primary care, injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, emergent care, examination and clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education, and prepares students to pass the national Board of Certification exam.
Getting started
Students interested in completing participating in the dual degree program in athletic training the BS in six semesters instead of eight should reach out to an HPAC advisor to carefully plan coursework -which should include introductory biology, chemistry, psychology, and math in the first two semesters. Students typically apply to the UWM portion of this program during the Fall semester of their third year at Beloit and enroll at UW-Milwaukee after completing 24 units (usually six semesters or three years) at Beloit.
Students complete at least 7 units of MSAT coursework at UW-Milwaukee in their first year of the MSAT degree program. These 7 units of coursework transfer back to Beloit College to complete the undergraduate degree, and students and graduate from Beloit College with the bachelor’s degree at the same time as their Beloit classmates. Students then complete the remainder of their MSAT degree coursework with UWM.
