Student participate in a variety of research experiences on campus. 
Armita Aghamiri ’28 worked with Assistant Professor Corbin Livingston to find an alternative for lead chloride in a lab experiment used in coursework, eliminating unnecessary exposure to lead and specialized management of lead waste.

Judy Nichols is a current junior originally from Oahu, Hawaii, who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemistry with the goal of graduating in May 2026. Her academic journey has taken her from the islands to the Midwest.

Emeritus professor Ken Yasukawa and Michael Lafayette’20 worked with researchers at the University of Illinois to analyze data from a study of changes in gene expression in Red-winged Blackbirds in response to threats from potential rival blackbirds as well as female cowbirds. The aim was to better understand the link between genes and animal behavior.
