What is Health Sciences?
Health sciences is the study of how the human body functions and how health is shaped by biological, behavioral, social, and environmental factors. The major gives you a strong scientific foundation in biology, chemistry, and psychology while also examining the systems, policies, and conditions that affect health outcomes. You learn how healthcare professions work, what influences wellness and disease, and how science connects with real-world challenges in communities and clinical settings.
Why study Health Sciences?
If you want to work in health care, or another profession connected to human wellbeing, this major prepares you with the scientific knowledge, analytical skills, and applied experience that the field demands. You gain training in laboratory and research methods, learn to interpret evidence, and study the structures that shape public and clinical health.
This degree aligns with the prerequisites for many advanced pathways, including medical school, nursing, physician assistant programs, physical therapy, public health, and biomedical research. It is a strong launch point for students who want both scientific depth and a broad understanding of how health systems operate.
