Public service is a proud Beloit tradition

Joining the School of Global & Public Service will help you map a path toward a career where you can impact your local and global communities by effecting meaningful and positive change. The school will equip you with the intellectual and practical skills and professional agility to be able to find yourself and your way.

Robust curricular offerings in the social sciences and humanities are integrated with opportunities for off-campus study, community engagement, and independent projects.

There are many ways to be a force for positive and humane change, whether in the public, private, or non-profit sectors. A Beloit education has always empowered its graduates to find innovative ways to contribute to the public good.

An interdisciplinary and humanistic curriculum

In pursuit of a bachelors of arts degree in one or more diverse disciplines, you will take core courses in the social sciences and humanities that will give you a deep understanding of the world around you and your place in it. You will build a knowledge base while practicing foundational problem-solving, communication, cross-cultural, and collaboration skills that Beloit College’s liberal arts education emphasizes.

You will engage with a range of global and local issues connected to the pursuit of human rights, social justice, equity and inclusion, and sustainability. You will examine how political, economic, social, and cultural systems shape these complex issues, and think creatively about how to tackle them in different contexts.

Local to global connections

Your learning won’t just take place in a classroom.

Whether you’re working with local community partners, leading a campus organization, studying abroad, engaging in an independent project, or doing an international internship, you’ll have exciting opportunities to expand your horizons.

Diverse mentors

You’ll find a diverse and caring community on and off campus of mentors eager to help you explore your options, locate opportunities, and plan your path towards your future career in government, education, consulting, or advocacy.

Beloit’s longstanding commitment to internationalism means that it has a robust international student population and global alumni network. Career Works is here to build your networks and prepare you for jobs, internships, and more. The Global Experience Office can steer you toward off-campus study opportunities that will shape your college experience — and may even convince you to work abroad or help certain populations.
