1098-T Notice for Tax Year 2025

Beloit College will issue IRS Form 1098-T for Tax Year 2025 to students by January 31, 2026. 

1098-T Tax Forms

The IRS Form 1098-T is used to help determine your eligibility for the American Opportunity or Lifetime Learning tax credits when filing your U.S. Federal Income Tax return.

Beloit College is required to issue IRS Form 1098-T to students who had qualified education expenses during the tax year, January 1 - December 31. According to the Internal Revenue Service, qualified education expenses includes tuition, fees, and other related expenses paid for an eligible student to enroll or attend an eligible educational institution.

Examples of student account charges that are not considered qualified education expenses include but are not limited to:

  • Room and board
  • Insurance
  • Medical expenses (including student health fees)
  • Transportation
  • Similar personal, living or family expenses
  • Late payment fees and fines 

For the 2025 calendar year (January 1, 2025-December 31, 2025), Beloit College will report all payments received for qualified education expenses from all sources in Box 1 of the 1098-T, and the total amount of scholarships and grants received in Box 5.

Receiving your 1098-T

Your 1098-T will be mailed to your home address on file and will also be available electronically through your Nelnet Billing Portal. Students who previously opted- in for electronically delivery will not receive a mailed copy.

We are not able to provide tax advice. It is ultimately your responsibility to determine and document what amounts you have paid towards your eligible expenses.
