Student Insurance Open Enrollment

Students are currently able to waive or enroll for Wellfleet student health insurance coverage for spring-summer (Jan. 1-July 31, 2026). All Beloit College students are required to have health insurance. The cost for the spring-summer period is $1,337. Students with other, approved medical insurance who did not waive out for fall 2025 will have until January 15, 2026 to complete a waiver.

We have reached the time of year called “open enrollment”. This is a period of time when you are able to make changes to your fall Wellfleet insurance selection.

  • If you are enrolled in the Wellfleet student health insurance, you can waive for spring-summer 2026.
  • If you waived the Wellfleet student health insurance for fall 2025, you can enroll for spring-summer 2026.
  • If you do not need any changes from your fall selection then no action is necessary.

As a reminder, all Beloit College students are required to have health insurance.

What will happen

  • New domestic and international Beloit College students will be enrolled in the Wellfleet student health insurance for the spring-summer coverage period from Jan. 1-July 31, 2026.
  • Returning international students will also be enrolled in the Wellfleet insurance for the spring-summer period from Jan. 1-July 31, 2026.

The cost for the student health insurance spring-summer period is $1,337.

Action you can take

Students new to Beloit College, or returning from a vacation term, will be enrolled in the Wellfleet student health insurance.

If you are covered by other, approved medical insurance, you have until January 15, 2026, to complete a waiver (see instructions below). I encourage you to do this as soon as possible.

International students holding J-1 Exchange Visitor Status through Beloit College must enroll in the Wellfleet insurance, due to visa requirements and Beloit College policy.

  • New this year, international students holding F-1 status are eligible to waive the Wellfleet insurance if their U.S. based insurance policy meets these requirements:
    • Affordable Care Act (ACA) Compliant
    • U.S. based policy
    • U.S. address and phone number for claims and customer service
    • Repatriation of remains benefit of $25,000
    • Medical Evacuation benefit of $50,000

Exchange visitors studying at Beloit College through the ISEP program will be automatically waived as the insurance required by the ISEP program satisfies the Beloit College requirements.

How to waive coverage

Available until January 15, 2026.

  1. Go to www.wellfleetstudent.com

  2. Search for and select Beloit College

  3. Log in or create an account

  4. Click the “Waive” button

  5. Complete the waiver questions as requested and upload required documents

  6. Watch for an email saying that “Your waiver request is PENDING”. This is not confirmation of an accepted waiver.

  7. Respond to additional information requests from Wellfleet. It is not unusual for them to request more information.

When the waiver is accepted, you will receive an email stating, “Your waiver request is APPROVED.” The health insurance charges will be removed from your student account, after the waiver is approved by Wellfleet. (This final step of removing the charges can take a few weeks.)
