When you leave campus for winter break, take a few minutes to get your room read for hibernation:

• Close, lock, and latch all windows — in that order. Extreme temperatures may cause water pipes to burst if the window is not properly closed.
• Close curtains.
• Set heat to 68-degrees Fahrenheit (if you have room controls).
• Turn off lights.
• Unplug electrical items (except refrigerators).
• Remove all items from your room refrigerator, clean the fridge, and keep it plugged in.
• Remove your items in shared kitchen refrigerators.
• Take all trash to the dumpster.
• Lock your room door.
