Smart Buildings Presentation at Student Symposium

Noel Jones’19 presented their research on smart buildings at the Student Symposium, combining fluid mechanics, computer-aided design, and 3-D printing.

The Student Symposium gives students the opportunity to present their research to students, staff, faculty and alumni.

Noel’s interest in sustainability led them to this project, which required that Noel design and 3-D print pipes of different sizes, then measure fluid flow rates through those pipes. A double major in Physics and Mathematics and a minor in English, and a campus activist, they also organized a clothing drive for trans students, delivered supplies to the Water Protectors at Standing Rock, and competed in prose poetry and flash fiction contests.
