Beloit Students Excel in Wisconsin Internships
Each year, Beloit College students participate in the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities’ Nonprofit Internship Program. Students apply in a competitive application process. If selected, they are then paired with one of the many nonprofit organization throughout Wisconsin that host internships.
Due to our strengths in Museum Studies, History, and Education, Beloit College had the highest number of interns in the association, outpacing much larger schools. This year, students participated in internships at:
- Beloit Historical Society
- Hedberg Public Library
- Jefferson County Literacy Council
- Rock County Historical Society
Both Nathaniel Lemke ’21 and Ana Kohout ’21 are working at Hedberg Public Library in Janesville, WI. During this socially distanced summer, they are creating virtual public programming, including video story time for kids. Nathaniel has found that reading stories, even online, has been rewarding. Ana adds that she has “learned a lot about how to create story time that promotes developmental growth and is fun.”
Beloit College’s focus on partnerships in the Stateline area has helped us to find learning and career-building opportunities for students, even an unusual summer.
