1972 Distinguished Service Citation
Banker – Civic Leader
Gifted civic leader, imaginative banker-businessman, energetic Beloit booster – you have won the respect and admiration of your fellow citizens through continuing efforts for community betterment and excellence of performance. As the third generation of your family to head the First National Bank and Trust Company, you personally demonstrated confidence in the future of downtown Beloit by launching its largest single construction project – a new $2 1/2 million financial center to be completed next year. You have reached young and old alike through devoted work with welfare, youth and health agencies and as United Givers Fund campaign chairman and president; but your most significant contribution was as cochairman of the Beloit Memorial Hospital building fund drive that exceeded $3 million, the greatest amount ever raised for a local cause. Highlighting your professional activity was the role you played in organizing the state bank executives’ seminar and your selection as its charter chairman. In recognition of your distinguished business leadership and untiring and unselfish dedication and loyalty to our community, your Alma Mater proudly awards you this Distinguished Service Citation, the first to a member of your Class.
