Physician – Mental Health Pioneer

Your determination to be a doctor was aroused while you were a student at Beloit High School, was strengthened as a college chemistry and zoology major, and was realized when Chicago’s Rush Medical College granted you a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1930. Society has been a benefactor of your career decision, and you have won great respect and admiration for your contributions to both physical and mental health. The Kentucky Association for Mental Health saluted your pioneering efforts by presenting its first community service award to you in 1967. Honored by that state’s Academy of General Practice for the excellence of your medical papers, you have published 27 articles in leading medical journals and you have presented a paper, later published, at one of the five international mental health meetings you have attended. But you truly are a “man of many hats,” for your interests range far beyond medicine; you are a co-founder and violin section concertmaster of the Northern Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, composer of more than 300 voice and instrumental compositions, painter, collector, photographer, world traveler. Beloit College is honored to present this Distinguished Service Citation to you today.
