Poet Lorine Niedecker may be one of Beloit’s — and modern literature’s — best-kept secrets. She was a prolific and reclusive writer, crafting sparse, nature-based poems in her one-room cabin alongside Lake Koshkonong.
Advocates like the Friends of Lorine Niedecker — a Fort Atkinson-based nonprofit — as well as Beloit College Archivist Emeritus Fred Burwell’86 and Professor of English Chris Fink are working to raise awareness of her work.
