Jasmin Anna Bowers ’25 receives Martha Peterson Prize for academic excellence and leadership
Jasmin Anna Bowers ’25 of Richmond, Texas, recipient of the 2025 Martha Peterson Prize, distinguished herself at Beloit with her academic excellence, leadership, and initiative outside the classroom. An outstanding student and community member, she exemplifies excellence in leadership, academics, and athletics.
As president of the Black Student Union (BSU), she worked tirelessly to create an inclusive and empowering space for students, and fostered meaningful conversations and initiatives that have made a lasting impact on campus culture. She also served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Council, and as Club and Oversight Director for the Beloit Student Government Executive Board.
Her leadership extended beyond student organizations — she was also a dedicated athlete, competing on both the volleyball and lacrosse teams. She was selected for the Midwest Conference Academic All-Conference in volleyball. “Jasmin’s dedication, leadership, and passion inspire those around her,” says one of her advisors. “We look forward to seeing the incredible things she will accomplish in the future!”
“Jasmin is a highly motivated and intellectually curious student with significant experience in conducting independent research, and a person of integrity and strong character,” one of her professors reports. After graduation, Jasmin plans to pursue a Master’s Degree in Public Health (MPH) at Syracuse University.
Beloit College class of 1981 members established the Martha Peterson Prize to honor Beloit’s seventh college president. Faculty members nominate students for this prize and members of the senior class vote on the final recipient.
