DeGeorge eclipses Knapton’s single sport record with 558th career win
A 13–0 shutout game sealed a milestone for Dave DeGeorge, whose steady success has made him the most victorious coach in one sport at Beloit.
Credit: Kayla WolfBaseball coach Dave DeGeorge recorded his 558th career win on March 2 when the Bucs defeated Northland College 13-0. With the win, DeGeorge surpassed the late Bill Knapton’s record for the most wins in a single sport at Beloit College. Knapton still holds the record as the winningest coach, with 588 total wins in men’s basketball and baseball combined.
Since taking over the baseball program in 1991, DeGeorge’s teams have won three conference titles in twelve Midwest Conference Tournament appearances. He is also the winningest coach in league history and a five-time Midwest Conference Coach of the Year. He has coached over 200 Academic All-Conference honorees since the league began recognizing student-athletes in 2006.
