New students learn sustainability through food
After studying sustainable development in class, first-year students went to their professor’s house for a meal. Students in the Advanced Mentoring Program course with Professor Pablo Toral socialized over a meal cooked with locally grown ingredients.
The first year students got together, cooked, and shared a meal with Professor Pablo Toral, their Advanced Mentoring Program advisor. Made from mostly locally sourced ingredients, the meal illustrated “energy” at different trophic stages, a topic they had studied in their coursework. Everyone went home with a full stomach and plenty of food for sustainable thought. The main goal of the meal, however, was to celebrate an excellent semester of learning and camaraderie.
