International Relations students successfully completed G-20 simulation
Each student represented a country and learned the process of negotiation throughout the semester.
While the actual G-20 summit was taking place in South Africa, students in the course conducted their own parallel G-20 summit at Beloit College. At the end of the simulation, they issued the following “official” statement:
“The 2025 G-20 Summit in Beloit concluded with the successful adoption of multiple multilateral proposals, reaffirming the global commitment to sustainable development, equitable debt frameworks, and resilient international cooperation. Member states endorsed measures to enhance regional manufacturing capacity, promote trade fairness, and strengthen collaborative mechanisms for growth.
The summit emphasized ensuring resistant global debt mechanisms, sustaining finance for development, and advancing ethical and responsible regulation of artificial intelligence. Leaders further committed to strengthening sustainable agricultural practices, enhancing transparency in carbon credit systems, and investing in emerging green technologies to support climate action.
Additionally, the G20 voted to intensify the fight against illegal wildlife trafficking, reinforcing efforts to secure national systems and protect the planet’s natural resources. The summit highlighted the importance of multilateral coordination, prioritizing stability, resilience, and long-term global prosperity.”
