At the Region III Festival for the American College Theatre Festival on Saturday night, Ella Walters was the winner of the Early Career Dramaturgy Award from American College Theatre Festival (ACTF) and Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of America (LMDA). A dramaturg (pronounced dra-ma-TURG) is the researcher, educator, and analyzer for the director, cast, and design team of a production. During the run of The Guiding Spirit last Fall, Walters received a “Certificate of Merit” for her lobby display by the ACTF respondent. At the regional festival, Walters spent the week presenting her work alongside eleven other dramaturgs from around the region. It’s a tremendous honor for Beloit College to gain recognition at ACTF, a festival that, “encourages, recognizes, and celebrates the finest and most diverse work produced in university and college theater programs” (https://www.actfltd.org).
