President Eric Boynton has been appointed to the ASU+GSV Higher Education Insights Board, a distinguished platform convening leaders to address the most pressing challenges and opportunities in higher education.
President Boynton’s recent appointment underscores Beloit College’s emergence as a leader in reimagining liberal arts education for the 21st century. Since assuming the presidency in 2023, Boynton has positioned Beloit College at the forefront of higher education transformation — balancing the college’s nearly two centuries of tradition and innovation with bold experimentation and responsiveness to evolving student and workforce needs.
Central to this work is Impact Beloit, a strategic framework that has already yielded tangible results across the institution and in the community. Under Boynton’s leadership, Beloit College created five career-connected academic schools, rapidly developed market-relevant majors — particularly in health professions and business — and began pioneering skills-based credentialing approaches. These initiatives reflect a fundamental reimagining of how residential liberal arts education can deliver exceptional value while remaining true to the college’s core mission.
Equally significant is Boynton’s commitment to regional collaboration and access. Beloit College has forged substantial partnerships with neighboring institutions — including a nursing program with Edgewood University and Beloit Health System, and degree-completion pathways with Blackhawk Technical College — extending the reach and relevance of a Beloit College education. This collaborative spirit extends to the college’s deepened engagement with downtown Beloit as an anchor institution, strengthening community ties while enriching the student experience.
Before his presidency, Boynton served four years as provost and dean at Beloit College, leading curricular reform and strategic planning that laid the groundwork for the college’s current trajectory. His career as a tenured professor of philosophy and religious studies at Allegheny College, where he earned multiple teaching awards and held leadership roles in honors and interdisciplinary studies, reflects a lifetime commitment to educational excellence and intellectual rigor.
The ASU+GSV Higher Education Insights Board seeks leaders who are actively shaping the future of higher education. Boynton’s appointment reflects his innovative vision for Beloit College, as well as the broader relevance of the college’s work to the sector. As institutions nationwide grapple with questions of affordability, relevance, student outcomes, and institutional sustainability, the Impact Beloit framework — emphasizing integrated learning and career connection — offers a compelling model grounded in liberal arts values.
The board meets three times annually via virtual sessions and once in person at the ASU+GSV Summit, bringing together institutional innovators focused on near-term solutions with long-term impact. Boynton’s participation in the Insights Board’s inaugural convening on February 4, 2026, positions Beloit College as an active voice in conversations shaping higher education’s future.
