Role Summary:

The IT Support Student worker will be working with both Windows and Mac operating systems. Software installs, basic machine troubleshooting and repair, classroom support dealing with projection and audio systems along with printing systems on campus.

 

Routine duties for technical support students will include: customer service, answering phones, data entry, calendar/schedule management, running errands, transporting equipment, equipment management, technical troubleshooting, and other duties as assigned.

 

Students assigned to the specialized teams for data analysis, inventory control, programming, networking, or innovation will have additional duties and projects assigned by their team supervisor. More detailed information on job duties will be provided during your training.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Work directly with staff, faculty, and even students to make their computer needs are met, while providing a high level of customer service and support.
  2. Setup, connection, and operation of computers, phones and other related equipment which connects to the college network.
  3. Setup and operation of audio and video equipment and cabling for classroom support.
  4. Other duties as needed and as your schedule allows, such as classroom testing, troubleshooting, and taking inventory of college equipment and assets.



Credentials and Experience:

  1. Experience working with Computer equipment is preferred, but not necessary. All training needed will be provided, along with opportunities to gain experience in real event settings.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. IT Support Student workers must demonstrate the ability to arrive on time and ready to be flexible as the work events in a variety of spaces. They must also manage their time and schedule well in order to be available to work.
  1. A desire to understand and learn how our computer systems and equipment work in order to achieve the best outcome.
  2. The ability to be flexible and troubleshoot problems as they arise. Training and support will be provided to help you to be ready and prepared.
  3. Knowledge of customer service standards and the ability to communicate effectively with faculty, administrators, staff, students, families of students, prospective students and their families and the general public.
