Language learning requires not only a cognitive process but also social interactions. Its ultimate goal is the students’ target language use in real life. Therefore, my teaching approach combines Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) and Task-Supported Language Teaching.

Students learn Chinese through communicative interactions and real-life tasks such as planning a travel itinerary, buying a shirt online, or writing a movie review. I strive to establish a supportive and cooperative community in my classes, where each member feels comfortable and confident to communicate in Chinese. I hope my students can grow and thrive together in such a community and later can apply what they have learned about the Chinese language and culture in their professional and personal life to improve both themselves and the people around them.
