Alexis Grosofsky joined the faculty in 1989, and was promoted to full professor in 2005. She served as advisor to Psi Chi, The International Psychology Honor Society, and graded Advanced Placement exams in psychology since 2000.

Her interest in pedagogy led her to create and share activities possible with limited budgets. She published a large set of activities and an instructor’s manual for teaching Sensation and Perception (S&P). She designed activities to help illustrate difficult concepts and created assignments to actively engage students.

The capstone project for her favorite class (S&P), “Sensory Superheroes,” required students to create a superhero with enhanced sensory abilities and an archenemy that could defeat those abilities. Students reviewed how their chosen sense worked, proposed improvements, and figured out how to defeat those improvements. Students also generated fun names for their superhero/archenemy pairs. It was a nice way to end the semester.
