My interest in plant biology and genetics began at Carleton College, where I earned a BA in biology. I’ve had a series of internships and jobs related to conservation and plant biology at the Carleton Arboretum, the Chicago Botanical Garden, and Openlands.

I earned a PhD in Plant Biological Sciences from University of Minnesota which focused on maize genetics and reproduction. I worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Arizona State University for a year, studying meiosis and reproduction in maize, Arabidopsis, and wild grasses.

Some of my favorite things about teaching at Beloit are helping students to do independent experiments, gain confidence with scientific techniques, and read the primary literature as well as community science outreach.

In my spare time, I enjoy nature walks, reading, and playing Dungeons and Dragons.
