I’ve been curator at the Wright Museum of Art since 2016, where I manage and research the permanent art collection, organize rotating exhibitions, and work closely with students — all aspects of working at a small academic museum that I find rewarding. After grad school, I worked at the Milwaukee Art Museum, which was a great experience, but solidified my appreciation for academic environments.

I teach one art history course a year, Modernism and Postmodernism, in which I incorporate object-based learning and slow looking to enhance the student experience. In class, I try to collapse the predominately white-male canon and bring in new voices, movements, and mediums. Students often come with exciting ideas for special projects that we can implement in the museum such as Mental Health in Museums and K-12 programming.

My curatorial practice revolves around under-recognized and under-appreciated women artists like Bertha Jaques, Suzanne Duchamp, Ada Shulz, and most recently Helen Philips. I have a specialization in the field of prints and printmaking, and love to share that expertise in classrooms, publications, and exhibitions. One of the most surprisingly fun parts of my position is working across campus — I’ve seen meaningful interdisciplinary connections to the objects and exhibits at the Wright Museum in Chemistry, Languages, Critical Identity Studies, English, Political Science, and Anthropology.

Off campus I love visiting museums, reading, eating, and traveling near and far; most of these things are even better when done with my family—I have three kids: Genevieve, Hazel, and Maxwell, three cats, one turtle, and a rabbit.
