Description
The Department Coordinator of Learning Enrichment and Disability Services (LEADS) is an ongoing 12-month position that provides support services for the Director of LEADS.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet guests, answer phones, take and distribute messages, schedule appointments, reserve facilities, and handle daily operations for the office. Perform routine clerical duties including correspondence, memos, forms, emails, and handouts. Maintain facilities, resources, and equipment of the office. Update and maintain the website, manuals, policies and procedures information.
- Coordinate the provision of accommodations for students with disabilities as needed. This includes but is not limited to:
- Organize and coordinate accessibility efforts indicated by the Director.
- Communicate to faculty needs, expectations, and advise on strategies to best determine courses of action for accessibility and student success.
- Train and work on accessibility efforts, in coordination with the Director, designated student staff, relevant faculty and staff.
- Source print materials and supervise conversion to accessible formats as needed. Collaborate with library staff, other staff, and students as needed.
- Act as liaison between the college, companies and organizations that provide resources and electronic formats to provide services as needed to students with disabilities.
- Research and acquire assistive technology.
- Distribute, collect, and update assistive technology; guide individual students in the use of assistive technology.
- Coordinate and provide exam administration for students with disabilities who qualify for testing accommodations.
- Coordinate and communicate locations and pathways for priority snow/ice removal to facilities.
- Coordinate all aspects of the Peer Tutoring Program which includes (but is not limited to):
- Collaborate with faculty and departments to ensure that the appropriate students are eligible to become tutors.
- Respond to all inquiries regarding the tutoring process and resolve issues.
- Run and modify reports of tutor and tutee applicants.
- Track professor recommendations for tutors on a daily basis during the academic year.
- Report data on the tutoring program including budget on a semester basis.
- Supervise and provide resources for tutor recognition activities.
- Oversee the work by student staff of training tutors and matching tutors with tutees.
- Provide ongoing training to assistant tutors in learning new skills and professional competencies.
- Gather, check and process student time sheets for all office operations on a monthly/bi-weekly basis (for approximately 30 - 50 student staff).
- Oversee student staff performance with an emphasis on using institutional learning outcomes.
- Responsible for student staff selection and trainings
- Meet on a weekly basis with student staff to provide feedback and support
- Track student staff programming efforts and effectiveness
- Provide yearly performance reviews and take part in goal setting of staff
- Provide ongoing support throughout the year in all aspects of their position and career development
- Oversees department budgets including preparation of requisitions and review of expenditures following College accounting policies and procedures. Acquire office materials and supplies, including textbooks and other supplies for disability accommodations.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Credentials and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Experience planning, organizing, and prioritizing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with frequent interruptions is required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software; ability to learn other software relevant to duties (e.g., Jenzabar, Reason content Management System to support web pages, and [specific software/programs]).
