Midterms before a weeklong break

Students ride bicycles in the 2023 homecoming parade, one reading, recycle, reduce, reuse.Beloiter Days wasn’t just a reunion for alumni. Students shared their creativity and spirit at the homecoming parade alongside the parade of classes.

Hello Beloiters! Many of us are excited for fall break next week, but first have to get through midterms. Study diligently, eat regularly, get plenty of sleep: You’ll do just fine.

Vigil for Jaahnavi Kandula

Asia Pacific Students Association (APSA) and Students for an Inclusive Campus (SIC) invite all members of the Beloit community to join us for a campus-wide vigil to remember and honor the life of Jaahnavi Kandula, a graduate student from India who was struck by a police car in January in Seattle. The vigil is an opportunity to come together and support one another during this difficult time.

The vigil is 6-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, starting at the Wall. From there, everyone will walk together to Eaton Chapel.

In Case You Forget

If you haven’t seen it already, check out one of the last three performances of In Case You Forget this week. “A Hip Hop drama that questions what art really is,” the show is the theatre department’s first in of a season focused on crime and mystery. The story centers on Jim, a kindergarten teacher, and his last two days of freedom before going to jail for vandalism—or art, depending on your point of view.

Midterm break

Because of midterm break, Beloiters Beat will not appear in your inboxes on Oct. 16. Be sure to have your upcoming events added to the website calendar before you go so we can feature them on For Beloiters and the next issue of the Beat when classes start up again Oct. 23.

Otherwise, take next week to enjoy yourselves: you’ve earned it. Safe travels for those heading home or taking trips.
