Beloit College is working with Edgewood College to offer a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) dual-degree program.

Hello Beloiters! It’s a busy week, so let’s get into it.

Two of the year’s most exciting visiting residents are on campus for lectures and class visits: economics professor and Upton Scholar Dave Audretsch, and climate change scholar and Crom Visiting Philosopher Stephen Gardiner. The Upton Forum will also feature two luncheons and talks.

Attend the Impact Beloit Ribbon-Cutting

On Thursday at noon, walk to the new garden level entrance of Morse Library for the building’s official ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event will introduce the campus and community to the newly renovated space, including the Impact Beloit Hub. Tours of the space will follow the event.

See Sagittarius Ponderosa

Sagittarius Ponderosa is a play about queerness, forests, the power of names and the histories they make and mask. See the show Nov. 14-16 and 21-23 at 7:30 p.m. in Studio One in the Hendricks Center for the Arts.

Students may see a performance for free when they preorder a ticket in advance and present their college ID. Tickets are $5 for other students, $7 for seniors, faculty and staff, and first responders, and $10 for adults. Space is limited, so order a ticket today.

Sports recap

  • Women’s soccer competed in the Midwest Conference Tournament for their fourth straight year. The Bucs played a tight game against the number one seeded host, Lake Forest College, and fell short, losing 1-0 to finish another successful season.
  • Men’s basketball tipped off their season with their home opener against Millikin University over the weekend. Senior forward Semaj Roy’25 led the Bucs to a 70-69 win with his 19 points and 8 rebounds. They will host Marian University on Thursday at 5 p.m.
  • Women’s basketball began their season over the weekend with a trip to face off against Rockford University. They fell to the Regents, 64-48. They will host two home games this week, the first on Tuesday against Carroll University at 7 p.m., and the second against Aurora University on Thursday following the men’s game.
  • Volleyball concluded their season with a home game against Illinois College on Saturday. The team battled and lost a back and forth third set by a narrow 25-20 margin, ultimately dropping the game 3-0.
  • Football headed into their penultimate game on Saturday. The Bucs battled against the Ripon College Red Hawks and were only down by a three-point margin in the fourth quarter before eventually suffering defeat, 16-7.

Beloit students attended the 76th Tri-State Field Conference focused on current research on the Paleozoic rocks of the Upper Mississippi River Valley. Field trip stops included exposures that contained abundant fossils and learning about extracting metals from mine waste.

Thanksgiving Shuttles

There is shuttle service to the Van Galder bus station during fall break. Drop off will be November 27. Pick up will be December 1st. Please sign up for a time if you need transportation to the bus stop.

2025 Beloit Student Government Executive Board

Students have elected Frank Hooton as President, Shobhita Bharadwaj as Vice President, Helmi Kawsar as Funding Board Director, and Snigdha Dasoondi as Communications Director.
