Black History Month continues

This week’s event for Black History Month is the Soul Food Luncheon on Wednesday, Feb. 12 from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. in Grace’s Place. Learn about Black history while breaking bread. Music by Patten Pending. If you already RSVPed, have a great lunch! (The deadline to RSVP is closed.)

Career and internship opportunity events

This week, there are multiple events to get you prepared for your future, whether it’s a summer internship, job fair, or a curricular interest.

Also, register to attend the WIPCCC Career Expo on Tuesday, Feb. 18 for a chance to speak with 50+ companies seeking students and recent grads for full-time, part-time, and internship roles. Sign-up for free transportation to and from the fair.

Sports recap

  • Men’s basketball played in two Midwest Conference matchups this week. After losing their home rivalry matchup to Ripon College 72-60, the Bucs picked up a win against Cornell College, 67-62. They were led by Anthony Carter ’27, who had 21 points in the contest. They host Maranatha Baptist University on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
  • Women’s basketball faced off in two conference games as well, against the Ripon Redhawks and Cornell Rams. Despite losing both, the Bucs saw large contributions from Hailey Johnson ’27 and Johanna McNair ’25, who each had 16 points in one of the two games.
  • Track and field competed in the Big Dawg Invite in Stevens Point, WI, where both the men’s and women’s team placed fifth. Nate Otis ’26 took home the lone victory for the Bucs in the 400m, with a time of 50.44.

Financial aid office offers exemplary service through ongoing training

Betsy Henkel and Vanessa Rammelt have received a rigorous and highly esteemed financial aid certification. “Making sure our students receive the financial aid that they are eligible for is so important,” says Betsy. “This certification gives us additional confidence that our students will receive their aid efficiently and accurately.”

YWCA Rock County internship

Abhey Singh Guram '25 is an accounting intern at the YWCA Rock County through the Impact Beloit Community Fellows program.

Abhey Singh Guram ’25 is an accounting intern at the YWCA Rock County through the Community Fellows Program. Originally from Punjab, India, Abhey is double majoring in quantitative economics and political science, with a minor in environmental studies.

Underkofler and Kang Prize Nominations

Students have the opportunity to nominate a faculty member for the 2025 Underkofler Award as well as a faculty or staff member for the 2025 Kang Prize. In doing so, you honor those people who have been among the most important in your time at the college. Nominations are being accepted, extended through February 14.

Register to use campus storage over summer

International students, as well as students studying abroad or who live more than 1000 miles from Beloit College, are eligible to use campus storage over the summer. Space is provided first come, first served, so please complete the storage interest form as soon as possible before March 28.

2025 Student Symposium

Student Symposium will be on Thursday, April 17. Faculty and staff nominations of students are due Feb. 24. Presentations abstracts from students are due March 18. Sponsor approval of abstracts is due March 24.
